Menge valley was well-known as a spiritual retreat site in the past.
Now it is the home of Menge Craft Distillery and Jinmac soju.
Menge Valley was well-known as a spiritual retreat site to the Korean intellects and aristocrats in the past. The scenic beauty enchanted many artists and writers to visit in person and led them to express themselves through many paintings and writings.
Located in a poetic scene written by Yi Hwang, one of the best-known philosopher, writer, and Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty, Menge Village is now hoping to present an authentic soju experience.
Menge Village, the home of Menge Craft Distillery and Jinmac soju, is located in a rural part of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do province in South Korea.
It is in the vicinity of major tourist destinations and the UNESCO world heritage site in the Andong area. It is not far from the main logistics infrastructure. On the other hand, the village is actually surrounded by the Nakdong-river and the mountainous terrain, making it almost inaccessible without a special vehicle or boat. That’s why the village is occasionally described as an inland island. Naturally protected from everyday traffic and tourists’ footsteps, the village has preserved its environment clean and natural to date.

Our journey started and goes on in this village. We are inspired deeply by the traditions, customs, and rich history that the area has inherited and maintained from our ancestors. We try to understand our ancestors’ knowledge and wisdom, which is embedded in the way we live every day along with Mother Nature. We make efforts to keep our activities in the village as organic and natural as we can. This philosophy is well reflected on how we have developed our estate – especially the wheat farm.
Every year we harvest organically grown winter wheat and manually select the best grains. Jinmac soju is made from the finest wheat grains.
Menge Village supplies the essential and high-quality ingredients to soju, such as wheat, water, and nuruk (yeast). The master distiller looks after wheat from seed to harvest. Along with clean water and yeast, the wheat grains are fermented into wheat Makgeolli. Then, through the multi-pass distillation process, it becomes Jinmac soju.
We are proud that our traditional recipe and the authenticity of the original soju continue with Jinmac products.

The location is ideal for us. It is in the vicinity of major tourist destinations and the UNESCO world heritage site in the Andong area. It is not too far from the main logistics infrastructure. It is where our journey has started. We try to understand our ancestors’ wisdom, which is embedded in the way we live every day together with Mother Nature. We make efforts to keep our activities in the village as organic and natural as we can. This philosophy is well reflected on how we have developed our estate – especially the wheat farm. Every year we harvest organically grown Korean brown wheat and manually select the best grains.
